About Dorlana

Hi – welcome to my page. I write contemporary novels for teens and adults. My inspirations are fairy tales and the supernatural. I like combining classic fairy tales with paranormal elements and then dropping it all in a contemporary setting.

You can find a list and links to all my fairy tale inspired short stories here: http://www.supernaturalfairytales.com

My newest release is (Aug 2022) Potion: a witchy fairy tale – is a Hansel and Gretel inspired YA urban Fantasy. I plan on having the paperback available in Oct 2022 – just in time for Halloween!

I have started writing book 2 Spell: A Witchy Fairy Tale and you can read the story while I write it on Kindle Vella here: http://www.elementalwitches.com The first 3 episodes (chapters) are Free and then, if you like the story, you just pay as you go.

I also have a Snow White inspired story on Vella – The story is ongoing and I’m not sure if I’ll be publishing it as a book or not. You can check it out here: http://www.snowwhitelies.com

The first book I self-published was in 2010.  Silverweed: a supernatural fairy tale  (revised in 2022) which is a Little Red Riding Hood inspired YA fantasy/werewolf story. It is available in eBook and paperback.

I have published more since then:
Jaclyn’s Ghost 2011 (revised in 2017) – Ghosts, Mystery, and Fashion
Supernatural Fairy Tales 2011 (revised in 2022) – A collection of fairy tale inspired paranormal short stories and poems. I post a lot of them here on my site, and they are listed on the sidebar.

Two of my romantic comedies were published by Soul Mate Publishing in 2015 & 2016:
The Trouble with Snowmen
The Trouble with Scarecrows

But I now have my rights back but haven’t republished them yet. Soon, they will have a new cover and be on sale again.

I am a born-and-raised Texan who lives outside of Houston with my husband and teen-aged son. I also have two married daughters, a grandson, and two new granddaughters! When I’m not writing, I enjoy cooking, watching reality TV, hanging out with said family, playing TX hold’em, and drinking on patios.

I’m most active on Instagram (info on sidebar) and like to post pictures of my outings in and around Houston, food & drinks, and book stuff of course.

  1. I was searching for other speculative blogs with a fairy tale focus and I’m happy that I stumbled across yours! There aren’t enough romantic/comedy paranormal books out there, which is a pity, because the paranormal genre is ripe for humor. I’ll have a closer look around–I love reading and promoting books!

I agree about the romantic/comedy paranormal books – Not only do I like to write them, I like to read them, too. Thanks for stopping by and leaving the comment. 🙂
